Transmission Remote GUI for MAC

Free, open-source Mac app to control a Transmission BitTorrent daemon: rules, RSS auto-download, labels, speed graphs and several servers in a native window.

Transmission Remote GUI Overview

Transmission Remote GUI is a native SwiftUI app for controlling a Transmission BitTorrent daemon from your Mac over its RPC protocol. It does not run the BitTorrent engine itself: that stays on your server, so you need a running transmission-daemon with RPC enabled. The app is a modern, from-scratch reimagining of the classic transgui, written independently in Swift without code from other projects.

You get a sortable torrent list with customizable columns, sidebar filters by status, tracker, folder and label, and a details panel for files, peers and trackers. Torrent rules set seed ratios, limits and labels per tracker, label or name, with a dry run before anything changes. Viktor Falcsik makes it, free and open source under the MIT license. Version 0.1.14 adds batch editing and a folder tree for files. It needs macOS 14 or later on Apple Silicon or Intel. The app is ad-hoc signed and not notarized, so on first launch of the DMG version you right-click the app and choose Open. Update checks are on by default and anonymous usage statistics are off unless you enable them.

Transmission Remote GUI FAQ

Is Transmission Remote GUI free?

Yes. It is free and open source under the MIT license.

Do I need anything else to use it?

Yes. You need a running Transmission daemon with RPC enabled. The app does not run the BitTorrent engine itself; that stays on your server.

Which macOS version does it need?

It needs macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later.

Does it run on Apple Silicon?

Yes. It runs on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.

Why does macOS warn me when I open it?

The app is ad-hoc signed and not notarized. For the DMG version, right-click the app and choose Open on first launch. The Homebrew cask installs it without that prompt.

What are torrent rules?

Rules per tracker, label or name that set seed ratio, idle limit, speed limits and labels, or stop the torrent. A dry run shows every change first.

Can it download from RSS feeds?

Yes. It watches feeds and adds torrents automatically using title-match rules, with duplicates removed.

Does it collect data?

Anonymous usage statistics are off unless you switch them on. The update check, on by default, asks GitHub for the latest release number and sends nothing about you or your torrents.

Can I install it with Homebrew?

Yes. Run brew install --cask epaxpax/tap/transmission-remote-gui-macos.
